The
Orange County Spelling Bee is sponsored by the Orange County Register and coordinated by the Orange County Department of Education. Winners from school or district spelling bees participate in the county’s “preliminary written round." The best spellers from the written round move on to the "final round," where students spell words orally to determine the top speller in the county. The winner participates in the Scripps National Spelling Bee finals in Washington D.C.
